Lectures and tutorials

Lectures

Some schools have introduced seminars, which are a combination of lectures and tutorials. These will replace lectures and tutorials and run for 2 hours

Where

Some are in Building 11 but they can be scattered around different buildings on campus. Your online timetable will tell you the location. There’s a map here:

TIP: Unless you want to play catch-up in your lectures, do the preparation beforehand. That way you can relax and make the most out of what the experts are saying. And, to avoid any embarrassing exposes, turn your mobile off.

Tutorials

There is usually one tutorial per unit each week (some languages have two). These go for an hour and are discussion groups on an allocated topic.

TIP: Make sure you do your readings! It’s a good idea to participate in tutorials – it may count towards your overall mark for the unit.

Finding your way

The Allocate+ website is where you go to find tutorial rooms and lecture

theatres: https://allocate.its.monash.edu.au/lecture-theatre-locations/

The room allocations for tutorials in the Menzies Building (this is the tallest building on campus and the one with all the renovations going on) look like this example: “W1017″, which is code for:

W = west wing (i.e turn right when you get out of the lifts)

10 = level 10 and 17 = room number.
